Chengdu, China – From June 5th to 12th, 2025, coinciding with the centennial celebration of Southwestern University of Finance and Economics (SWUFE), the 2025 SWUFE Global Academic - co- hosted by the Faculty of International Studies and the School of Public Finance and Taxation - wrapped up successfully in Chengdu. The camp brought together 2 faculty members and 19 international students from the University of Dundee, Universidad Nacional de San Martín, University of Hawaii, University of Buenos Aires, and Università di Modena e Reggio Emilia, along with a team of student volunteers from SWUFE, embarking on an 8-day journey of academic exploration and cultural exchange.

The opening ceremony was successfully held on June 5th in the Gezhi Building on the Liulin Campus. Professor Zhang Jiarui, Dean of the Faculty of International Studies, Professor Lv Min, Vice Dean of the School of Public Finance and Taxation, and lead faculty member Professor Franca Poppi attended the ceremony. Throughout the 8-day program, faculty members Ms. Li Qi and Ms. Zhang Peilei, alongside SWUFE student volunteers, offered full-range logistical and academic support and ensured the smooth operation of the camp.
Participants immersed themselves in the rich culture of the Ba-Shu region: exploring the Chengdu Museum, Kuanzhai Alley, and the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding to experience the charm of ancient Shu civilization and modern Chengdu; visiting the SWUFE History Museum and the Currency Museum to delve into the university's century-old history and financial culture; and discovering the art of Shu embroidery (a renowned traditional craft of Sichuan Province) while experiencing Tai Chi (a traditional Chinese martial art) and Hanfu attire (the traditional clothing of the Han ethnic group) for an immersive appreciation of Sichuan's profound cultural heritage. Beyond cultural immersion, the camp also featured lectures on topics such as "Sichuan Traditional Culture," "European Business in Sichuan," and "Traditional Chinese Medicine and Tuina," alongside a field trip to the Dujiangyan Irrigation System. These activities broadened the international students' horizons and fueled their passion for exploring diverse cultures.
On June 12th, the 2025 SWUFE Global Youth Forum & SWUFE Global Academy Closing Ceremony was held in Room 101 of the Hongyuan Building. Professor Li Zhisheng, Vice President of SWUFE, attended the ceremony. During the event, student representatives from the three academic groups delivered summary reports and shared their cultural exchange experiences based on the camp's activities. Zhang Yuxuan, a 2022 undergraduate from the School of Public Finance and Taxation, represented the Chinese students in a speech. The "Panda Pioneer Team," jointly formed by the Faculty of International Studies and the School of Public Finance and Taxation, was awarded the "Panda Spirit Award." Representatives from the International Office, Academic Affairs Office, Graduate School, and six schools joined all the faculty and students of the academic camp in concluding this successful international exchange event.This event not only strengthened academic and cultural exchanges between SWUFE and international partner universities but also laid a solid foundation for long-term international cooperation in the future.
